Job summary
The Legal Intern at Brit Properties Nigeria Limited will assist the legal department in daily operations, including legal research, documentation, compliance tasks, and support in real estate-related tasks and legal matters. This role provides a hands-on opportunity to gain practical legal experience, particularly within the Nigerian real estate and corporate sectors
Job descriptions & requirements
- Conduct legal research on statutes, case laws, and regulations (property, contracts, corporate governance).
- Prepare summaries and briefs for ongoing legal matters.
- Compile and submit all research work completed during the week.
- Support the preparation of legal opinions and briefs.
- Draft and review legal documents (Sales Agreements, MOA, Tenancy Agreements, NDAs, etc.).
- Proofread and format documents before submission.
- Submit documents for review by Legal Associate/Head of Legal.
- Review all drafted documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure all files (digital & physical) are properly stored and updated.
- Verify documentation for property transactions.
- Assist in title verification and land ownership checks.
- Participate in land allocation activities representing the legal team.
- Review all due diligence activities carried out during the week.
- Ensure all transactions meet compliance standards.
- Organize legal files and court documents.
- Attend court proceedings (when required) and take minutes.
- Respond to client inquiries professionally.
- Support Legal Associate and Head of Legal as needed.
- Update case files and track progress of ongoing matters.
- Submit weekly summaries of court proceedings and disputes.
- Review all client interactions and response timelines.
- Follow up on unresolved client/legal issues.
Regulatory Monitoring and Filing:
- Track legal/regulatory changes in real estate.
- Assist in preparing and filing statutory documents.
- Summarize key regulatory/legal updates affecting the company.
- Share insights with the legal team.
- Maintain physical and digital filing systems.
- Schedule meetings and document discussions.
- Submit daily activity reports before the close of work.
- Submit a weekly performance summary.
- Track progress against assigned responsibilities.
- Maintain professionalism with clients and colleagues.
- Contribute ideas to improve legal services.
- Participate in departmental meetings.
- Suggest process or service improvements.
Sales Contribution (Periodic but tracked weekly):
- Support and track progress toward the quarterly sales target.

Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of experience
- Minimum of a BSc.
- Comprehensive weekly research outputs.
- Improved quality of legal advisory.
