Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
- Advise management on legal, regulatory, contractual, and operational risks.
- Collaborate with software developers and product teams during the design, development, testing and deployment of digital products and AI-powered solutions.
- Translate legal and compliance requirements into product specifications, safeguards, testing scenarios and operational procedures.
- Review technology contracts, commercial agreements, software licensing arrangements, confidentiality agreements and intellectual property provisions.
- Support compliance with applicable Nigerian laws, including data protection and privacy requirements.
- Identify and assess legal risks associated with AI-assisted decisions, automated workflows, data processing and digital services.
- Develop and maintain legal policies, compliance frameworks, risk registers and escalation procedures.
- Help establish appropriate human oversight, accountability and review mechanisms for technology-assisted outputs.
- Protect confidential business information, intellectual property and commercially sensitive assets.
- Conduct legal risk reviews and recommend corrective actions before significant products or features are released.
Requirements:
- At least 3–4 years of directly relevant experience in technology law, data protection and privacy, regulatory compliance, commercial technology contracts or legal risk management.
- Practical knowledge of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and applicable regulatory obligations.
- Demonstrable experience drafting legal policies, reviewing contracts, conducting risk assessments or advising management.
- Ability to understand digital product workflows and translate legal requirements into actionable guidance for technical teams.
- Excellent legal research, analytical writing, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Strong professional ethics, discretion and respect for confidentiality.
Added Advantage:
- Experience in AI governance, legal technology, software-as-a-service (SaaS), digital product development or responsible AI deployment.
- Experience working directly with software developers, product managers or technology teams.
- Familiarity with intellectual property protection, digital evidence, cybersecurity governance or technology vendor management
