Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Corporate & Commercial Law: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, partnership agreements, and other corporate documents.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring adherence to regulations, licensing requirements, and data protection laws.
- Litigation & Dispute Resolution: Advising on litigation matters, engaging with external counsel, and handling dispute resolution processes.
- Legal Research & Advisory: Conducting legal research on emerging fintech regulations, cryptocurrency laws, and compliance obligations.
- Intellectual Property Management: Assisting in trademark registration, brand protection, and handling IP-related matters.
- Risk Management: Identifying legal risks in company operations and recommending proactive measures.
- Government & External Engagements: Liaising with regulators, law enforcement, and other stakeholders on legal matters affecting the company.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B) and Call to the Nigerian Bar (BL).
- Minimum of 2 years post-call experience in a law firm with a focus on market entry and corporate commercial law.
- Experience in contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution.
- Understanding of corporate governance, SEC Rules, and financial services laws in Nigeria.
- Familiarity with litigation processes.
- Drafting and contract negotiation skills.
- Creative, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and organisational skills.
Additional skills:
- Experience working with clients in the fintech, blockchain, or financial services sector.
- Knowledge of virtual assets regulations and payment processing laws.
