Job descriptions & requirements

Job Title: Junior Inventor (Graduate Internship)

Department: Nudge Lab

Location: Gombe State, Nigeria (Physical Presence Required)

Duration: 12 Months (6 Months Technical Residency + 6 Months Product Development)

Compensation:

  • Months 1–6: Unpaid
  • Months 7–12: Performance‑based stipend

The Vision

Our Hub is not just a place to learn; it is a factory for the next generation of Nigerian engineers. We are seeking exceptional Graduate Trainees to undergo a one‑year intensive residency. You will evolve from a fresh graduate into a professional hardware inventor capable of designing, building, and launching commercial‑grade digital devices.

The Journey Phase 1 – Technical Residency (Months 1–6)

  • Hardware Mastery – Master the Rigol DS1102Z‑E Oscilloscope, advanced multimeters, and professional soldering stations.
  • Embedded Intelligence – Deep dive into ESP32, STM32, and specialized sensor fusion (Voice, GPS, CO₂, and environmental telemetry).
  • Inventor Curriculum – Study the principles of Practical Electronics for Inventors through hands‑on experimentation.
  • Expert Mentorship – Attend weekly sessions with local and international industry experts to bridge the gap between theory and industry.

Phase 2 – Product Development (Months 7–12)

  • Stipend Eligibility – Upon successful completion of Phase 1, trainees who demonstrate technical excellence and commitment will unlock a monthly stipend.
  • Market‑Ready Innovation – Identify a specific socio‑economic problem in Nigeria and lead the design of an Alpha and Beta prototype.
  • Industrial Design – Transition from breadboards to custom PCB design and professional enclosures.
  • The Final Demo – The program culminates in a public showcase of your commercial prototype to potential investors and industry leaders.

Requirements

  • Recent graduate in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated passion for hardware (e.g., personal projects, robotics, or DIY electronics).
  • Ability to commit full‑time for 12 months to an intensive R&D environment.
  • Analytical mindset with a “bias for action” – we value people who build more than they talk.

Why Join Us?

  • Access to world‑class equipment not typically found in traditional Nigerian universities.
  • A workspace powered by innovation and driven by excellence.
  • The rare opportunity to own the end‑to‑end development of a real‑world product.
