Junior Accountant
Job summary
The Junior Accountant supports day-to-day accounting operations by maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with reconciliations, reporting, tax compliance, audit support, and ensuring adherence to internal controls and applicable accounting standards under senior supervision.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management accounts.
- Record and reconcile daily transactions, including cash, investments, receivables, and payables.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure timely journal entries.
- Prepare bank and investment reconciliations.
- Assist in processing invoices, expense claims, and disbursements.
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Assist in preparing tax filings and liaising with tax consultants.
- Maintain fixed asset register and depreciation schedules.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
- Support audits (internal and external) by preparing schedules and documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager or Senior Accountant.
Requirements:
- B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of accounting or finance experience (experience in financial services is a plus).
- Part qualification in ICAN, ACCA, or similar will be an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
