Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Vision: Define and evolve the overall technology roadmap for in-centre and online learning (Arc-Lights Learn LMS). Identify and integrate emerging technologies (AI/ML, IoT, 3D printing, drones) into both physical and digital curricula.
- LMS & Digital Content Management: Oversee the Arc-Lights Learn learning management system: content updates, user administration, and platform performance. Develop and maintain online modules for robotics, coding, and electronics, ensuring they align with in-centre workshops.
- Curriculum & Programme Design: Create modular, project-based courses (Python, JavaScript, C/C++, electronics, mechatronics, AI/ML, IoT, and robotics on Arduino, Raspberry Pi, LEGO Mindstorms), etc. Integrate assessments, badges, and community features into the LMS to track teacher and student progress.
- WRO® & STEM Bus Management: Plan and execute the annual World Robot Olympiad® education programmes: regional qualifiers, national finals, and teacher/student workshops. Oversee the STEM Bus initiative: coordinate bus routes, school visits, equipment logistics, and community engagement events each year.
- School Outreach, Teacher & Student Training: Manage delivery of robotics education in partner schools—extracurricular clubs and curriculum integration. Design and deliver teacher-training workshops (both online via LMS and in-person). Coach and coordinate student robotics teams for regional and national competitions.
- Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, train, and mentor technical instructors, LMS administrators, and support staff. Implement continuous professional development, performance reviews, and cross-centre knowledge sharing.
- Operations & Infrastructure Management: Oversee procurement, installation, and maintenance of hardware (PCs, sensors, actuators, 3D printers) and software (IDEs, CAD/CAM, simulation tools). Enforce health & safety protocols; target > 99% uptime for labs and LMS.
- Partnerships & Outreach: Forge alliances with universities, tech startups, NGOs (e.g., RoboCAN), and ed-tech vendors for content, sponsorships, and joint events. Represent ALF at industry conferences, WRO® Nigeria, and media engagements.
- Budget Oversight & Reporting: Develop and manage the Technology Centre and LMS budgets; monitor expenditures. Define and track KPIs—enrolment, completion rates, certification uptake, WRO® placements, STEM Bus reach—and report to the Executive Director.
- Travel & Field Engagement: Conduct quarterly site visits, technology audits, and LMS training sessions across Lagos, Kwara, Abia, Kano, Port Harcourt, and partner schools (\~30% travel). Lead inter-centre and inter-school “Tech Days” and online hackathons to build community.
Requirements:
- Master’s or higher in Computer Science, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or related field.
- 4+ years in a senior technical role (e.g., Technical Lead, Engineering Manager) with ≥ 3 years managing multi-site programmes and an LMS or e-learning platform.
- Expert in ≥ 2 programming languages (Python, JavaScript, C/C++).
- Hands-on with robotics platforms (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ROS) and embedded systems.
- Familiarity with LMS administration (e.g., Moodle, Canvas) and digital content authoring tools.
- Leadership & Project Management: Strong team-building, conflict-resolution, Agile/Scrum experience.
- Communication: Excellent presentation skills; able to translate complex topics into engaging online and in-person modules.
- Logistics: Willingness to travel up to 30% across Nigeria; valid passport and experience coordinating equipment shipping.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD or certifications in AI/ML, Mechatronics, or Robotics.
- Experience managing donor-funded grants and large-scale ed-tech deployments.
- Active involvement in tech communities, hackathons, or open-source projects.
How to Apply: Forward your CV, Cover letter highlighting relevant successes and a one-page strategic proposal for both in-centre and Arc-Lights Learn LMS programmes over the next 12 months. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the role is filled.
