Job Summary
We’re seeking a hands-on, resourceful Mechanic who will act as our Fleet Maintenance and Roadside Assistance Coordinator — the frontline responder whenever our trucks face breakdowns or mechanical issues on the road. This role is both technical and operational: you’ll coordinate urgent roadside repairs, guide drivers to safety, find the fastest and most cost-effective repair options, and ensure every maintenance record is accurately tracked and scheduled. Your mission is simple: keep our trucks moving safely and our maintenance system running like clockwork.

Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
Roadside Assistance & Emergency Coordination:
- Respond immediately to breakdown calls from drivers and dispatch.
- Troubleshoot issues remotely via phone or telematics tools to identify probable causes.
- Ensure the driver’s safety first — guide them to a secure location before any repair.
- Locate, contact, and negotiate with nearby roadside service providers or repair shops.
- Obtain the best repair solution — balancing cost, quality, and speed of service.
- Follow up with drivers and service providers until the vehicle is back on the road.
- Document every incident and action taken in the fleet management system.
Fleet Maintenance & Preventive Servicing:
- Maintain and update the maintenance calendar for all vehicles.
- Schedule and monitor regular inspections, oil changes, tyre rotations, and other preventive services.
- Track upcoming service dates, warranties, recalls, and DOT inspection schedules.
- Coordinate with vendors for bulk parts, fluids, and tyre purchases.
- Keep digital and physical maintenance logs 100% up to date at all times.
Vendor Management & Cost Optimisation:
- Build and maintain a reliable network of roadside service providers nationwide.
- Compare repair quotes, negotiate rates, and verify repair quality post-service.
- Audit invoices and ensure accurate cost tracking in the fleet expense reports.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Create weekly maintenance reports for management review.
- Record recurring mechanical issues to identify patterns or preventive needs.
- Assist in developing fleet health dashboards and cost-per-mile analysis.
Requirements:
- Some sort of technical knowledge for anything mechanical
- Strong understanding of diesel engines, electrical systems, brakes, and tyres will be preferred
- Excellent phone communication and problem-solving ability.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Competent with spreadsheets or fleet management software.
- Calm and solution-oriented under pressure.
- Must be flexible and responsive. Breakdowns don’t wait for business hours.
