Head of Marketing
Job summary
We are seeking an experienced Head of Marketing who will drive customer acquisition, brand visibility, and revenue growth across our Nigeria ↔ UK shipping routes. The ideal candidate must be highly conversant with CRM systems, data-driven, and capable of building scalable marketing operations. This is a leadership role requiring strong digital marketing expertise, logistics industry awareness, and the ability to manage campaigns that convert leads into paying shippers.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Develop and execute the full marketing strategy for UK→Nigeria and Nigeria→UK cargo services.
- Identify and target key customer segments (SMEs, online sellers, exporters, diaspora communities).
- Analyse market trends, competitor pricing, and customer behaviour to shape growth plans.
- Build campaigns that increase shipment volume, customer retention, and recurring bookings.
- Drive online customer acquisition through:
- Social media (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn)
- Google Ads & Meta Ads
- SEO for “ship to Nigeria/UK” keywords
- WhatsApp marketing
- Email automation
- Build landing pages and funnels that convert leads into bookings.
- Track CAC (Customer Acquisition Cost) and optimize campaigns for ROI.
- Add and manage leads in the company CRM.
- Create clear messaging for air freight, sea freight, express delivery, door-to-door services and consolidation services
- Communicate pricing, timelines, prohibited items, packaging rules, and customs requirements.
- Work with operations to ensure marketing promises match actual service delivery.
- Build retention programmes for frequent shippers (SMEs, online sellers, exporters).
- Create referral programmes that reward customers for bringing new shippers.
- Oversee customer satisfaction surveys and feedback loops.
- Reduce churn by improving communication, tracking updates, and post-delivery follow-ups.
- Track key metrics:
- Leads generated
- Cost per lead
- Conversion rate
- Shipment volume
- Revenue per route
- Customer lifetime value
- Build dashboards for leadership to monitor marketing performance.
- Use data to refine campaigns, pricing, and customer targeting.
- Work closely with Sales to ensure:
- Lead quality is high
- Sales scripts match marketing messaging
- Promotions are aligned with capacity
- Work with Operations to:
- Communicate delays, flight schedules, and shipping timelines
- Promote new routes or service improvements
- Ensure customers receive accurate tracking and updates
- Plan monthly and quarterly marketing campaigns around:
- Peak shipping seasons (Christmas, Easter, Black Friday)
- Special offers (discounted kg rates, free pickup days)
- New warehouse openings or new routes
- Manage content calendars, ad budgets, and creative production.
- Build and manage a marketing team (digital marketers, designers, and content creators).
- Train the team on logistics industry knowledge and customer psychology.
- Set KPIs, review performance, and ensure continuous improvement.

- Oversee all brand messaging, creative direction, and content strategy.
- Ensure consistent communication across social media, websites, email, and offline channels.
- Build trust-driven messaging around tracking, customs expertise, safety, and delivery timelines.
- Log all leads, conversations, quotes, and bookings in the CRM.
- Maintain accurate pipeline stages (New → Contacted → Interested → Quoted → Closed).
- Use CRM automation tools for reminders, follow-ups, and customer segmentation.
- Generate weekly and monthly reports from the CRM.
- Provide updates on pickups, departures, tracking, and delivery timelines.
- Ensure smooth handoff to operations for shipment processing.
- Build long term relationships with frequent shippers.
- Encourage referrals and repeat business.
- Work closely with the Operations team to confirm flight schedules, warehouse drop-offs, and customs requirements.
- Share customer insights with management to improve pricing, service quality, and communication.
- 3-5 years in marketing, with at least 3 years in a senior or leadership role.
- Experience in logistics, freight forwarding, e-commerce, or cross-border delivery is a strong advantage OR not
- Proven track record of scaling digital acquisition and managing large ad budgets.
- Must be highly conversant with CRM systems (SendPulse, Zoho, or similar).
- Strong digital marketing expertise (ads, funnels, automation, analytics).
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills.
