Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations and financial transactions of the organization.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded, classified, and properly documented.
  • Develop and monitor accounting procedures and internal financial controls.
  • Prepare budgets, financial forecasts, and periodic management reports.
  • Monitor cash flow, expenses, income, and financial performance.
  • Review financial records and investigate discrepancies or unusual transactions.
  • Ensure timely preparation and filing of tax returns and other statutory financial obligations.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and provide required financial documentation.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate accounting staff to ensure effective performance.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to management to support business decisions.
  • Liaise with banks, auditors, tax consultants, suppliers, and other financial stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential accounting records.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting systems, and financial controls.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5–8 years of relevant accounting experience, including supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, taxation, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent financial analysis, reconciliation, and reporting skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good knowledge of Nigerian tax and statutory requirements.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, accountability, and professionalism.
