Job descriptions & requirements
- Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations and financial transactions of the organization.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
- Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded, classified, and properly documented.
- Develop and monitor accounting procedures and internal financial controls.
- Prepare budgets, financial forecasts, and periodic management reports.
- Monitor cash flow, expenses, income, and financial performance.
- Review financial records and investigate discrepancies or unusual transactions.
- Ensure timely preparation and filing of tax returns and other statutory financial obligations.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and provide required financial documentation.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate accounting staff to ensure effective performance.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to management to support business decisions.
- Liaise with banks, auditors, tax consultants, suppliers, and other financial stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential accounting records.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting systems, and financial controls.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5–8 years of relevant accounting experience, including supervisory or managerial experience.
- Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, taxation, and internal controls.
- Proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent financial analysis, reconciliation, and reporting skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Good knowledge of Nigerian tax and statutory requirements.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, accountability, and professionalism.
