Location: Calabar, Cross River, Nigeria

Start Date: November 2023

Placement Length: 6 Months

Language Requirements: English Level 4-Advanced

The Volunteer’s Role

Are you passionate about raising funds to address gender equality and reducing discrimination against women? if so, this might be the role for you!

We need your Fundraising skills to help our partners in a positive way.

As a volunteer, you will work closely with the project team for funding strategy development and deployment. In addition, you will support the team in responding to calls via proposal writing and developing unsolicited proposals to funders. You will support fundraising ideas and strategies.

As a volunteer, you will:

Develop a funding strategy and create a portfolio of funders a portfolio of funders Work with the program development team to develop at least three proposals Work with the program team to develop two fundraising activities/ideas/events

Essential Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in relevant areas (Social Sciences, International Development) Relevant certificates/diplomas in Resource Mobilization/Fundraising

Essential Background:

At least 2 years of experience working on resource mobilization-related/fundraising projects Experience writing multiple proposals and understanding funders' requirements Excellent oral and writing skills Ability to work on own initiative

Project - Sharing Canadian Expertise for Inclusive Development and Gender Equality (SHARE)

Cuso International will deliver the Sharing Canadian Expertise for Inclusive Development and Gender Equality (SHARE) project, with a contribution from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) over seven years (2020-2027). SHARE aims to improve the economic and/or social well-being of the poorest, most marginalized and vulnerable people, particularly women and girls, in developing countries, with a view to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. In addition to increasing engagement of Canadians in international development and key global issues, this project will aim to increase the performance of country partners to deliver more inclusive, innovative and environmentally sustainable development initiatives that advance gender equality, in support of the action areas of Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy.
