We seek to hire a Farm Manager (Poultry & General Farm Operations) to join our team.
Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and manage daily poultry operations (broilers/layers), including feeding, vaccination, biosecurity, disease prevention, and performance monitoring.
- Monitor and optimise production metrics such as mortality rates, feed conversion ratio (FCR), growth rate, egg production, and overall yield.
- Oversee general farm operations across all units (livestock, fishery, feed processing, warehouse, etc.) to ensure smooth workflow and efficiency.
- Supervise and manage farm staff, unit supervisors, and farmhands, including duty allocation, work schedules, discipline, and performance monitoring.
- Train and mentor staff on standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety, sanitation, and best farming practices.
- Manage farm resources, equipment, infrastructure, and maintenance to prevent operational downtime.
- Implement cost control measures, reduce wastage, and support profitability and ROI.
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports covering production, staff performance, expenses, challenges, and recommendations.
- Track and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) across poultry production, staff productivity, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and documentation for production, inventory, feed usage, and expenses.
- Liaise with veterinarians, suppliers, consultants, and management to support farm performance and compliance.
- Identify risks, losses, or operational gaps and implement corrective actions promptly.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5–10 years’ proven experience in poultry farm management.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing general farm operations beyond poultry.
- Strong knowledge of poultry production systems, farm economics, and business management.
- Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Animal Science, Veterinary-related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Strong leadership, supervision, and people-management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- Good understanding of farm cost structures and profitability drivers.
- Strong communication, reporting, and organisational skills.
Compensation:
- NGN 250,000 (During probationary period: 3 months)
- NGN 400,000 (After Probationary period)
