Database Administration (DBA) Officer

Responsibilities: 

• Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of database management systems (DBMS).
• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory and internal policies.
• Monitor database performance and implement optimization strategies.
• Perform regular database backups and support disaster recovery planning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues to ensure system availability.
• Support database development, including query optimization and indexing.
• Manage user access controls and permissions for database security.
• Document database structures, policies, and procedures for audit and operational efficiency. 

Requirements: 

• A good bachelor’s degree/HND, preferably in Computer Sciences/IT or related discipline, plus professional banking certification (CIBN)
• An MBA and/or other relevant postgraduate or professional qualification will be added advantage.
• 2+ years of experience in database administration, preferably in a financial institution.
• Membership in relevant professional bodies such as the Nigerian Computer Society (NCS) is an advantage.
• Certifications in database management (e.g., Oracle Certified Associate (OCA).
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or AWS Database Speciality) are preferred.
• Experience with relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with database backup and recovery procedures.
• Experience with database security and access control.
• Experience with cloud-based database solutions like AWS RDS or Azure SQL.
