Community Partnership & Engagement Officer
Job summary
The Community Partnership & Engagement Officer will develop and maintain relationships with organisations, communities and stakeholders that can support our mission, programmes and long-term development. The successful candidate will identify partnership opportunities, strengthen referral pathways, support community outreach and consultation, coordinate volunteer engagement and maintain strong relationships with existing stakeholders. This is not primarily a marketing or social media role. The focus is on building practical, trusted relationships that increase our reach, create opportunities for collaboration and keep our programmes connected to the communities they are designed to serve. The role will suit someone who is comfortable starting conversations, building trust, following up opportunities and representing a UK social enterprise in a professional and thoughtful way. This opportunity is designed for an independent contractor who is ordinarily based in Nigeria and able to provide services remotely from Nigeria for the foreseeable future. The role does not include UK visa sponsorship, relocation assistance or a pathway to UK employment.

Responsibilities:
Partnership Development:
- Identify and develop relationships with organisations aligned with our mission and programmes.
- Build partnerships with schools, colleges, charities, community organisations, local authorities, businesses, creative organisations and other relevant stakeholders.
- Research prospective partners and identify opportunities for collaboration, referrals, programme delivery and organisational growth.
- Initiate professional approaches to prospective partners and coordinate introductory conversations
- Maintain regular contact with existing partners and ensure relationships are actively nurtured.
- Support the development and administration of partnership agreements, Memoranda of Understanding and other partnership documentation where required.
- Maintain an active pipeline of prospective, developing and established partnerships.
Community Engagement & Outreach:
- Build relationships with communities and organisations connected to the people our programmes are designed to support.
- Support outreach activity for current and upcoming programmes.
- Identify appropriate community networks, groups and organisations through which programmes and opportunities can be promoted
- Support community consultation and co-design activities
- Gather feedback and community insight to help inform programme development and organisational decision-making.
- Help strengthen the organisation’s visibility and reputation within the communities and sectors in which we work.
Referral Pathways:
- Develop and maintain referral relationships that help children, young people and community members access relevant programmes.
- Build relationships with schools, youth services, community organisations, family services, SEND organisations, employment and skills providers and other appropriate referral partners.
- Ensure referral partners understand relevant programmes and how individuals can access them.
- Monitor referral activity and identify gaps or opportunities to strengthen referral pathways.
- Work with programme staff to support participant recruitment where appropriate.
Stakeholder Relationship Management:
- Act as a professional point of contact for designated external stakeholders
- Maintain regular and appropriate communication with partners and community contacts
- Follow up on meetings, introductions and partnership opportunities promptly.
- Coordinate partnership meetings and maintain accurate records of discussions, commitments and next steps.
- Identify relationship risks or concerns and escalate them appropriately.
- Ensure external stakeholders receive a professional and consistent experience when engaging with the organisation.
Volunteer Coordination:
- Support the recruitment and coordination of volunteers in collaboration with programme staff
- Maintain accurate volunteer records and an up-to-date central volunteer list
- Support volunteer communication, onboarding and engagement.
- Help identify volunteer opportunities across programmes and organisational activities
- Monitor volunteer engagement and support appropriate recognition and retention activities.
Partnership & Engagement Administration:
- Maintain accurate partnership, stakeholder, referral and engagement records.
- Keep contact information, meeting notes, actions and partnership status information up to date
- Maintain relevant trackers and partnership pipelines
- Use Microsoft 365, shared filing systems, project management tools and other approved organisational systems effectively.
- Produce concise updates and reports on partnership and community engagement activity.
Monitoring, Evidence & Organisational Growth:
- Track partnership and engagement activity against agreed objectives.
- Collect evidence of partnership outcomes, referrals, community engagement and stakeholder activity.
- Contribute relevant partnership and community evidence to grant applications and funder reports
- Identify emerging community needs, partnership opportunities and external developments that may be relevant to the organisation.
- Share useful intelligence with managers and programme teams.
- Contribute ideas that strengthen the organisation’s external reach and long-term sustainability.
Organisational Representation:
- Represent the organisation professionally at online meetings, partnership discussions, community forums and networking opportunities where required.
- Communicate our mission, programmes and impact clearly and accurately.
- Develop relationships based on trust, professionalism and mutual benefit.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and protect confidential information.
- Ensure commitments made externally are appropriately recorded and authorised.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in community engagement, partnership development, stakeholder engagement, outreach or a related role.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Confidence initiating professional conversations and developing new relationships.
- Experience communicating with external organisations and stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and follow-up skills
- Ability to manage multiple relationships and priorities independently.
- Strong Microsoft 365 skills.
- Experience maintaining accurate contact records, databases or relationship trackers
- Confidence using technology and digital tools to improve productivity.
- Professional judgement and the ability to represent an organisation appropriately.
- Understanding of confidentiality and GDPR principles.
- Reliable internet connection and suitable home working environment.
Desirable:
- Experience supporting a UK charity, Community Interest Company or social enterprise.
- Experience working with schools, community organisations, local authorities or voluntary sector organisations.
- Knowledge of the UK voluntary and community sector.
- Experience developing referral pathways.
- Experience coordinating volunteers.
- Experience supporting grant-funded programmes.
- Experience using Microsoft 365 and shared cloud-based filing systems
- Experience using project management software such as Asana or similar tools.
- Knowledge of safeguarding principles.
- Experience supporting community consultation or co-design.
What Success Looks Like:
- Develop a strong pipeline of prospective and active partnerships aligned with organisational priorities
- Establish at least 12 new active partnerships that contribute to referrals, programme delivery, community reach or other agreed organisational objectives
- Strengthen referral pathways across key programmes and target communities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date partnership, stakeholder and referral records
- Ensure partnership enquiries and agreed follow-ups are handled promptly and professionally.
- Support effective community consultation and outreach activity where required.
- Maintain an organised and engaged volunteer pool in collaboration with programme teams.
- Provide regular, useful insight on partnership activity, community needs and emerging opportunities.
- Build positive relationships with external stakeholders and represent the organisation to a consistently high professional standard.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00am–6:00pm UK time, including a paid one-hour lunch break.
Work Schedule:
- The successful candidate will be engaged on a freelance basis, with monthly payments and a standard contractor agreement.
- They will work closely with a UK-based team and should be comfortable collaborating remotely across time zones.
- Contractors are expected to maintain a professional remote working environment, reliable internet access and availability during agreed working hours.
- Occasional flexibility may be required for partnership meetings or organisational activities outside standard hours. Where possible, this will be agreed in advance.

Remuneration: NGN 300,000–350,000 Monthly, depending on experience
Reports to: Senior leadership team
