Backend Engineer

Responsibilities:

Backend (Web + Mobile):

• Design and implement secure REST APIs used by mobile and web
  
• Build role-based access control (patient/doctor/admin) + consent logic
• Build vitals ingestion pipelines (batching, retries, idempotency, timestamps)
• Implement notifications/alerts triggers and background jobs
• Create clean DB schema + migrations + performance tuning (indexes, query optimization)
• Write tests (unit + integration) and maintain API documentation

DevOps / Production Ownership (DevOps-leaning):

• Deploy and operate services (Docker, CI/CD, environment configs, secrets)
• Set up monitoring, logging, and error tracking (Sentry/Crashlytics-like equivalent server-side)
• Manage reliability basics: rate limiting, throttling, health checks, rollbacks
• Handle incidents calmly: debug, fix, and prevent recurrence

Requirements:

• 4+ years backend experience shipping real systems (health/fintech a plus)
• Strong in at least one backend stack: Node.js (NestJS/Express) OR Python (FastAPI/Django) OR Laravel
  
• Strong SQL (Postgres/MySQL): schema design, migrations, indexing
• Background jobs/queues (Redis + BullMQ/Celery/Sidekiq equivalents)
• Solid security fundamentals: JWT/OAuth, refresh tokens, RBAC, audit logs
• Comfortable collaborating with mobile devs (Flutter/React Native) and web devs

DevOps “Nice-to-Have” (but highly preferred):

• AWS (EC2 / ECS / S3 / RDS) or GCP/Azure equivalent
• Docker and Docker Compose, basic networking, Linux troubleshooting
• CI/CD (GitHub Actions / GitLab CI / Bitbucket Pipelines)
• Nginx, reverse proxies, HTTPS/TLS, domain/DNS basics
• Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) is a bonus

• People who avoid ownership (monitoring, logs, bugs, releases)
