Key Deliverables Music Management: Assist in the creative planning and delivery of the music elements of all church services and other special events. Work with Music Director to coordinate all parts of the worship service with the preaching pastor during Sunday services, Wednesday midweek services and other services or events as may be organized by the church. Work with the Music Director to develop and coordinate special worship services for seasonal events. Periodically assisting in teaching the church body new songs. Research and select appropriate music for worship services Team Leadership: Assist in coordinating rehearsals of the music team as often as delegated. Provide leadership, mentoring and training to the music team. Work with the Music Director to establish of a strong prayer base for the music ministry Assist in planning and attend meetings and retreats as pertains to the Music Ministry Perform any other duties as may be required of the role Knowledge, Skills and Behavior Educational Qualification First Degree Technical training in music Relevant Experience & Technical Competences Previous experience of at least 5 years. Proven technical musical competence both individually and with regard to leading others in worship. Strong musical and vocal skills Competence in playing at least one musical instrument would be an added advantage Ability to compose, arrange, write, and sequence music. Ability in a wide range of styles including Christian classics (hymns) but with a focus on contemporary music. Musical analysis skills based on professional competence in counterpoint, harmony, composition, musical structures, and orchestration. Ability to lead worship in large gatherings Multi-generational exposure to songs of the church - past, present, and future Experience leading and developing individuals and teams within a music context providing motivation in order to enhance worship. Experience of choral and orchestral music as well as working with bands and sound equipment. Average computer illiteracy Attitude and Behavioral Traits A heart for the church and a growing relationship with Jesus Christ Demonstration of Christian faith consistent with being a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ Passion, enthusiasm, creativity. Ability to act on own initiative and to prioritize and manage own workload. Up-to-date knowledge of music methods and materials (e.g. traditional & contemporary gospel, hymns, and praise & worship) Excellent public communication and worship leading skills Appropriate leadership qualities, e.g. motivational with the ability to help others reach their full potential; inspirational; team and people focused; ability to lead and train others to lead biblically based worship. A sense of ownership: must take personal responsibility for the growth and success of every social media platform. Excellent communication (written and oral) Relates well to all kinds of people, builds effective relationships, and communicates effectively both interpersonally and corporately. Organized, creative thinker and highly productive, working in a fast-paced environment Productive worker with solid work ethic, strong integrity and loyalty Flexibility and creative thinking, in a rapidly growing church environment
