Our business
We are a strong mining company with a strong presence in Nigeria. We specialize in the extraction of tin, a valuable resource used in various industrial applications. With a commitment to sustainable and responsible mining practices, we are seeking an experienced and results-driven Mine Operations Manager to lead our underground tin mining operation in Nigeria. For that we have partnered with Airswift to support us with our recruitment. 

Key Responsibilities and background:

Oversee day-to-day mining operations, including drilling, blasting, ore extraction, and transportation. Optimize processes for maximum efficiency and productivity. Prioritize and champion a culture of safety, ensuring that all mining activities comply with safety regulations and guidelines. Implement and maintain safety protocols, training programs, and emergency response plans. Manage equipment, resources, and supplies efficiently to minimize downtime and reduce operational costs. Ensure regular maintenance and replacement of equipment as necessary. Develop and execute production plans, including ore extraction schedules, to meet production targets and maximize profitability. Prepare and manage the mining budget, identifying opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining or improving safety and production standards.  Provide regular reports to senior management on the operation's performance, safety, production, and financial metrics.  Stay informed about and ensure compliance with all local, state, and national mining regulations and permits.  Implement quality control measures to maintain ore quality standards and reduce waste during the extraction and processing of tin. 

Critical Skills & Personal Attributes:  Previous experience in the area of drilling management and team coordination.  Degree in engineering, mining, geotechnics and similar. Fluency in English Familiarity with Nigerian mining regulations and permitting processes. At least 7-10 years of experience in underground mining operations, with a proven track record in a leadership role
