Transport Manager

Responsibilities:

Fleet Management:

• Manage the company's fleet of vehicles, including maintenance, repairs, and replacements.
• Ensure all vehicles are in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
• Implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and ensure safe operations.

Route Optimization:

• Develop and optimize transportation routes to maximize efficiency, reduce costs, and improve delivery timelines.
• Utilize transportation management software and GPS systems to track vehicles and monitor route performance.

Driver Management:

• Recruit, train, and supervise drivers, ensuring they meet safety and performance standards.
• Schedule drivers' shifts, breaks, and assignments effectively to maintain a consistent flow of operations.

Logistics Coordination:

• Collaborate with warehouse and inventory teams to ensure timely loading and unloading of goods.
• Coordinate transportation schedules to match production and distribution timelines.

Cost Management:

• Monitor transportation expenses, fuel consumption, and maintenance costs.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining service quality.

Regulatory Compliance:

• Stay updated on transportation laws and regulations, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation guidelines.
• Maintain necessary permits, licenses, and insurance for the fleet.

Vendor Management:

• Collaborate with external partners such as carriers and logistics providers to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues

Risk Management:

• Mitigate transportation-related risks by implementing safety protocols, driver training, and accident response plans.

Performance Tracking and Reporting:

• Collect and analyze transportation data to measure performance metrics such as on-time delivery, fuel efficiency, and vehicle utilization.
• Generate regular reports for management review.

Continuous Improvement:

• Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency enhancement within the transportation department.
• Implement best practices and innovative solutions to optimize transportation operations.

Customer Service:

• Maintain open communication with customers and respond to inquiries or concerns related to transportation.
• Ensure a high level of service and customer satisfaction.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience in transportation management, ideally in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, safety guidelines, and industry best practices.
• Proficient in using transportation management software, GPS systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
