Resident Nurse

Responsibilities:

Emergency & Primary Healthcare:

• Provide immediate and effective emergency medical care and stabilization for workplace injuries, accidents, and acute illnesses, preparing patients for transfer when necessary.
• Conduct medical assessments, triage patients, and administer primary treatment for minor illnesses and injuries according to established protocols and standing orders.
• Safely dispense prescribed medications, manage the site's pharmaceutical inventory, and ensure controlled substances are stored and tracked accurately.
• Maintain meticulous, confidential, and legally compliant medical records for all patient encounters and treatments.

Occupational Health & Safety:

• Work collaboratively with the Safety and Operations teams to identify site-specific hazards and contribute to injury prevention programs.
• Conduct pre-employment, periodic, and return-to-work medical screenings and health surveillance programs as required by occupational health standards.
• Oversee and conduct on-site first aid training for designated employees (First Responders).
• Implement and monitor strict infection control measures within the clinic and accommodation areas.

Clinic Management and Logistics:

• Manage the daily operations of the site clinic, ensuring all medical equipment is functional, calibrated, and well-maintained.
• Monitor, report, and support the procurement of medical supplies, equipment, and pharmaceuticals to ensure adequate stock (inventory) levels are always available.
• Advise site management on matters related to food safety, water quality, sanitation, and hygiene in the remote camp.

Requirements:

• Registered Nurse (RN) qualification from an accredited institution. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
• Current and valid professional nursing license in good standing.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of post-qualification nursing experience; experience in emergency medicine, occupational health, or remote/industrial/site settings is a significant advantage.
• Proven experience in managing a remote clinic or health post is highly desirable.
• Relevant certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Trauma certification (e.g., PHTLS, ITLS), etc., are added advantages.
• Exceptional clinical assessment and rapid decision-making skills in emergencies.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage a clinic with limited resources or medical supervision.
• Excellent communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills.
• Must be willing and able to reside full-time on the remote site during shift rotations.
