Job summary
Bunsen Healthcare Communication Agency (BHCA) is a healthcare communications agency supporting pharmaceutical, healthcare, and research organisations across Nigeria and the UK. This role provides an opportunity to support a range of projects while developing practical experience in healthcare communication and medical writing (UK standard). The project & medical communications assistant will provide administrative, coordination, and communication support across UK-based healthcare communication projects, Nigerian healthcare communication initiatives, and Nigerian agriculture communication projects. Faith-based communication and project initiatives This role is ideal for a graduate with a strong interest in science and writing, who is eager to be trained in healthcare communication, medical writing, and project coordination. Prior experience in medical writing is not required; however, a Willingness to learn and develop in this area is essential. Candidates should also be comfortable using digital tools, including social media and basic communication platforms, and be adaptable in supporting a range of administrative and personal assistant tasks.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Provide administrative and organisational support across multiple projects
- Support project coordination, including timelines and basic budgeting
- Manage documentation, electronic filing, and data organisation
- Support meeting coordination, including scheduling and follow-ups
- Assist with research, survey coordination, and data collection activities
- Support the development of communication materials (e.g. slides, documents, summaries)
- Assist with basic writing and content development tasks as part of ongoing training
- Work will be guided by UK-standard healthcare communication practices, with training provided to support your development
- Maintain and update contact databases (clients, partners, stakeholders)
- Support communication with partners, suppliers, and stakeholders
- Provide general personal assistant support where required
- BSc / MSc degree (preferably pharmacology, biomedical science, Physiology / Anatomy, Pharmacy or mass comm. grads with science interest)
- Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook/Gmail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good attention to detail and basic numeracy skills
- Well-organised, with good planning and time management abilities
- Proactive, with a positive attitude and problem-solving mindset Experience
- A background or strong interest in science, healthcare, or research (e.g. pharmacology, biomedical sciences, physiology, or related fields)
- Evidence of curiosity about healthcare or science (e.g. projects, writing samples, or personal interest) would be beneficial
- Previous internship or entry-level experience in a related field is an advantage, but not required
- A basic understanding of the healthcare system in Nigeria
- The ability to quickly understand and adapt to new tasks and projects
- Strong administrative and organisational skills (e.g. managing timelines, reports, and data)
- Clear communication skills and a professional, personable approach
- Hands-on exposure to healthcare communication projects
- Training and mentorship in medical writing and communication development
- Opportunity to grow into a more advanced role over time
- This is a 3-6 month initial contract, with the potential for transition to a full-time permanent role based on performance during the probation period.

- During the probation period, holiday allowance will be 5-10 days (excluding public holidays).
- The role is five days a week, with standard working hours from 9:00am to 6:00pm.
- The office is located in Ikate, Lagos.
