Job summary
The Nurse Manager (Mental Health Services) provides clinical nursing leadership and operational oversight for nursing services within Kings Psychiatry. Depending on service needs, the role may be assigned to outpatient services, inpatient services, or a combined scope, ensuring high standards of nursing care

Responsibilities:
Nursing Leadership & Supervision:
- Lead and supervise nursing staff across inpatient and/or outpatient services
- Coordinate nursing duty rosters, shifts, and coverage
- Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and performance oversight
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing development of nursing staff
Clinical Care & Patient Safety:
- Ensure safe, ethical, and patient-centred nursing care
- Oversee nursing participation in admissions, inpatient care, medication administration, and discharge planning (as applicable)
- Support detox and substance-use treatment services from a nursing care perspective
- Monitor patient safety, incident reporting, and escalation protocols
Compliance & Clinical Governance:
- Ensure nursing practice complies with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) standards
- Support compliance with HEFAMAA, NHIA, and other applicable healthcare regulations
- Ensure accurate, timely nursing documentation and clinical records
- Participate in audits, inspections, and quality-improvement initiatives
Operations & Multidisciplinary Collaboration:
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, and operations leadership
- Support implementation of clinical policies, SOPs, and care protocols
- Ensure effective communication across nursing and multidisciplinary teams
Clinical Systems & Support:
- Modern electronic charting system with AI-supported tools to improve efficiency, reduce errors, and support clinical care.
- Nursing workflows designed to enhance efficiency and reduce documentation burden
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse (RN) qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, or Healthcare Administration is an advantage
- Current registration and good standing with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN)
- Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, including mental-health or psychiatric nursing
- Prior experience in a nursing leadership or supervisory role is required
- Experience in inpatient psychiatric services, outpatient mental-health clinics, or both is acceptable
- Strong clinical leadership and decision-making skills
- Knowledge of mental-health nursing standards and patient safety protocols
- Excellent communication, documentation, and team-management skills
- High professionalism, discretion, and accountability
