Organizational Context and Purpose for the job

The NFCMS 2021 collected information on four distinct components: (1) socioeconomic and demographic information of households in the sample; (2) dietary intake (3) anthropometry and (4) micronutrient status through a series of biomarkers such as hemoglobin genotype, HbA1c, the status of iron and inflammation, vitamin A, folate, zinc, iodine, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B12, malaria, H. pylori, hemoglobin, plasma glucose, and helminths, which were analyzed from blood, urine, and stool samples.

The purpose of the consultant is to review the final survey report and contribute to a quality report. This includes technical soundness in terms of design, implementation, presentation of results, conclusion, and recommendations.

Key responsibilities:

The consultant will be required to, among others:

1) Conduct a thorough review of one of the following components of the National Food Consumption and Micronutrient Survey 2021: Household in the sample, Dietary intake, Anthropometry and Micronutrients (Biomarkers).

2) Provide a document summarizing the results of the component reviewed with an emphasis on the technical soundness, alignment to survey objectives, clarity of presentation in line with the data presented, and completeness of the section.

3) Assess alignment to international standards reporting standards

4) Assess the overall presentation of figures, tables, and illustrations and provide suggestions for improvement

5) Participate in a virtual meeting with stakeholders to present the review findings, answer questions, and provide suggestions as requested.

Masters’ Degree in Nutrition, public health, nutritional epidemiology, global/international health and nutrition, health/nutrition research, Medicine or any other relevant field.



A professional with over 10 years of experience in nutrition or public health Evidence of planning, implementing, analyzing, and reporting on surveys, research or evaluations related to anthropometry, dietary practices, or micronutrients. Evidence of reviewing technical reports in nutrition and public health. Evidence of publication of research articles in nutrition and public health. Strong communication skills - both oral and written in English

Added advantage

Experience in negotiations and managing complex stakeholder relationships Work experience in Africa

Language Requirements:

Fluency in written and spoken English language
