Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Collect, process, and analyze biological specimens (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) using a variety of laboratory techniques and instruments.
- Perform routine and specialized tests in hematology, microbiology, chemistry, immunology, blood banking, and molecular diagnostics
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure accurate test results. Record and interpret test results, ensuring quality control and validation.
- Communicate findings to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals for patient care decisions.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain detailed documentation and laboratory records.
- Participate in proficiency testing and quality assurance programs.
- Train and supervise junior lab personnel or students, if applicable.
- Stay updated with advancements in laboratory technology and methodologies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science, or a related field.
- Currently practicing license issued by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
- Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic medical records (EMR) is a plus.
