What You'll Do
Cisco is looking for a government affairs professional to join a global team for a position as Manager of Africa Government Affairs, based in Nigeria. Reporting to the Senior Director of Africa Government Affairs, this individual will support Ciscoâs government engagements and public policy efforts throughout the continent. Your key responsibilities will include:
Building relationships with key leaders, elected officials, and policymakers at all levels of government Advancing public policies that bolster ICT adoption and enable Ciscoâs mission to power an inclusive future for all Engaging Cisco in local policymaking processes, including representing Cisco in industry coalitions and participating in trade association activities Working closely with Cisco country leaders throughout the continent and other senior executives globally Advising on current political and policy trends, including potential business implicationsWho You'll Work With
Ciscoâs Government Affairs team represents the company with governments around the world to build relationships with key leaders, advance Ciscoâs public policy goals, and educate governments about our industry. Government Affairs is involved in all key legislative, regulatory, and global issues that impact the technology industry.
We are comprised of government and public policy experts across nearly two dozen countries who represent Cisco at the highest levels of government. The team has extensive experience in and out of government and are leaders in the industry.
Who You Are
You have political and public policy experience combined with the following:
Comprehensive understanding of political systems, as well as legislative and regulatory processes throughout the continent Familiarity with public policy issues and challenges impacting the technology industry Exceedingly strong political judgement and relationship-building skills Ability to explain complex regulatory and policy matters to senior executives Excellent writer, capable of preparing briefings, position papers, and presentations Enthusiastic self-starter who loves to learn and enjoys working with equally motivated colleagues Results-oriented team player with a high regard for getting the job done wellMinimum Requirements:
At least five years' experience in the public and/or private sector, including within government, corporate government affairs, trade associations, and public policy institutions Technology-related experience is a plus Degree in political science, business, law, economics or similar field; advanced degree is a plus Excellent English Willing to travel throughout the continent and, on occasion, internationallyImportant Safety Tips
