Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of the litigation process, from initial filing to trial and appeal.
- Analyse statutes, case law, and other legal precedents to determine the probable outcome of a case.
- Draft legal documents such as complaints, motions, appeals, and other legal filings.
- Advise clients on case status and legal options, and build relationships with clients and other parties involved.
- Attend hearings, depositions, and trials to present facts and argue on behalf of clients.
- Negotiate with opposing counsel for potential settlement or resolution of the case.
- Work with other attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants to ensure all deadlines and requirements are met.
Requirements:
- Obtain a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from an accredited university.
- Pass the bar examination to become licensed to practice law.
- Complete a period of practical legal training after your degree.
- Gain experience in the legal field, specifically in litigation, to build expertise.
