We are seeking a skilled and proactive Backend Developer with strong experience in NestJS and PostgreSQL to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will take over backend responsibilities for our USSD/SMS-based utility platform As a Backend Developer, you will play a critical role in maintaining and extending the functionality of our platform. This includes supporting our VAS (Value-Added Services) integrations, managing subscription logic, and building scalable APIs for our frontend, USSD, and third-party integrations. You'll collaborate closely with our product and tech teams to deliver a seamless experience to thousands of daily users.

Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and improve our existing backend built with NestJS and PostgreSQL.
- Design, build, and document RESTful APIs for mobile/web/USSD clients.
Implement and manage core systems including:
- Subscription & access control
- Utility payment (electricity, airtime, TV, internet)
- Lottery draw engine and quiz management
- Integrate with third-party providers (VAS aggregators, SMS gateways, utility vendors).
- Optimize database performance and backend response time.
- Ensure robust security and scalability of the platform.
- Participate in deployment, monitoring, and debugging in production environments.
- Work cross-functionally with front-end engineers and product stakeholders.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of professional experience as a Backend Developer.
- Strong command of NestJS (Node.js/TypeScript) and PostgreSQL.
- Experience designing, building, and scaling production-level APIs.
- Understanding of REST principles and asynchronous programming.
- Familiar with tools such as Git, Docker, and Postman.
- Ability to manage backend infrastructure and troubleshoot issues.
- Good communication skills and ability to work with remote teams.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience working with USSD/SMS platforms or telco/VAS systems.
- Knowledge of Redis, AWS, or CI/CD pipelines.
- Background in fintech, billing, or lottery-based systems.
- Familiarity with quiz/gamification logic and reward systems.
