Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Accountant role located in Port Harcourt. The Accountant will handle daily financial transactions, maintain accurate financial records, and ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations. Responsibilities include preparing financial statements, managing budgets, processing payroll, reconciling accounts, and performing audits. The Accountant will also collaborate with internal teams to analyze financial data and provide insights that support decision-making.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in accounting principles, financial reporting, and account reconciliation
- Experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and audit processes
- Knowledge of financial software and tools such as ZohoBooks
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Understanding of regulatory, new tax laws, and compliance requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Certification such as ACCA, or ICAN is a plus
- Prior experience in the real estate or construction industry is advantageous
Area/Responsibilities
Financial Records: Maintain accurate books of accounts, general ledger entries, and journal postings
Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage invoicing, payments, collections, and reconciliations
Compliance: Ensure compliance with local laws, tax regulations, and accounting standards
Audits: Assist internal and external audits with required documentation
Budgeting: Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Payroll Support: Coordinate payroll accounting and statutory deductions (if applicable)
Process Improvement: Identify and implement accounting process improvements
Years of Experience (2–5 years)
System Experience (Experience working with ERP or accounting software)
