Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

Financial Planning & Discipline:
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and rolling financial planning processes.
  • Develop and maintain clear financial models aligned with the company growth strategy.
  • Strengthen cost control systems and improve financial visibility across departments.
  • Lead cash flow planning to ensure operational stability and responsible capital deployment.
  • Build practical internal controls and financial governance systems appropriate for a scaling company.

Fundraising & Investor Support:
  • Partner closely with the CEO and senior leadership to prepare and support fundraising efforts, including equity, debt, and grants.
  • Develop investor-grade financial models and projections.
  • Prepare financial materials for investor discussions and due diligence processes.
  • Support development of fundraising data rooms and performance dashboards.
  • Contribute to clear and disciplined investor reporting.

Strategic Analysis & Growth Support:
  • Provide financial insight to support pricing strategy, product monetisation, and expansion decisions.
  • Conduct scenario modeling to evaluate growth initiatives and capital allocation choices.
  • Support leadership in evaluating partnerships, new markets, and revenue streams.
  • Serve as a financial thought partner to the CEO and leadership team.

Operational Finance Oversight:
  • Oversee day-to-day finance operations including reporting, reconciliations, and compliance.
  • Strengthen accounting systems and reporting timelines.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly financial reporting.
  • Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements across operating markets.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in finance, corporate strategy, accounting, or investment roles within growth-stage or technology-enabled organizations.
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills.
  • Experience supporting fundraising, capital planning, or investor engagement.
  • Experience building or improving financial systems and controls.
  • Understanding of multi-country operations within Africa is an advantage.
  • A professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CFA, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience in SaaS, data, analytics, or technology businesses is a strong advantage.

KPIs (First 12 Months):
  • A comprehensive 3-year financial model was completed within the first 90 days.
  • The monthly reporting cycle was reduced to under 10 business days.
  • Cash flow forecasting system implemented with rolling 6-month visibility.
  • An investor-ready financial data room prepared within the first 120 days.
  • Zero major compliance or audit issues.
  • Improved cost discipline with measurable reduction in non-strategic spend.
  • Board-ready quarterly financial dashboards implemented and maintained.
