Job summary
The Storekeeper at Ucalux Construction will be responsible for managing site inventory, maintaining accurate stock records, and ensuring proper documentation of all materials received and issued. The role will oversee stock-taking processes, monitor material movement, and support cost control through accurate record-keeping.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Receive, inspect, and record all materials delivered to the site.
- Verify quantities and quality of materials against purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Maintain accurate stock records using stock cards, registers, and/or digital inventory tools.
- Issue materials strictly based on approved Material Request Forms (MRFs).
- Monitor stock levels and notify management when items approach reorder levels.
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, and arrangement of materials to prevent damage or loss.
- Conduct weekly and monthly physical stock counts.
- Reconcile physical stock with recorded balances and investigate discrepancies.
- Prepare stock variance reports and escalate unusual differences immediately.
- Assist in quarterly and annual inventory audits.
- Maintain accurate Goods Received Notes (GRNs), issue vouchers, and stock movement records.
- Support cost tracking by ensuring materials issued are properly recorded against specific projects or tasks.
- Assist the Accounts/Finance team with inventory valuation and reconciliation.
- Ensure documentation aligns with internal controls and audit requirements.
- Maintain organized filing of all store-related documents for easy retrieval.
- Ensure strict control over materials issuance to prevent misuse or theft.
- Restrict unauthorized access to the store.
- Implement and follow Ucalux inventory management policies and procedures.
- Immediately report damaged, expired, or obsolete materials.
- Work closely with Site Engineers, Project Managers, and Procurement teams.
- Provide daily/weekly stock updates to the Inventory Manager.
- Prepare periodic stock status reports, including fast-moving and slow-moving items.
- HND/B.Sc in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (Accountant preferred).
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience as a Storekeeper in construction or a similar industry.
- Knowledge of stock-taking and reconciliation processes.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles (debits, credits, inventory valuation).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience using inventory or accounting software is an advantage.
