Job Summary

The job holder will be responsible for supporting Faculty research activities.

  • Minimum Qualification:Degree
  • Experience Level:Mid level
  • Experience Length:2 years

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities: include but not limited to the following:

  • Carry out research according to protocols laid out by primary researchers
  • Support the search for and review of extant literature within established guidelines
  • Collect and enter data, and carry out qualitative and quantitative analyses as may be required
  • Prepare graphs, spreadsheets, and infographics to portray research results for the Institute
  • Support research-related brainstorming and review activities, as well as grants application for the Institute
  • Support Instrumentation processes for research and M&E purposes
  • Contribute to information gathering about research-related advancement opportunities such as calls for grants, papers, conferences
  • Contribute to the production of scholarly articles, research/M&E reports, white papers, periodic newspaper and social media contents, and other similar outputs from the Institute
  • Source for data needed for book and academic publications
  • Gather data and references for research work
  • Conduct preliminary studies and other fact-finding assignments to facilitate research activities
  • Seek out Industry contacts for technical data and cases studies
  • Liaise with industry managers for business data authenticity
  • Interview firms to extract vital information for case study preparations and book publication.
  • Develop and present complex reports on assigned tasks
  • Drive self-development to enhance professional growth and quality of work
  • Any other relevant responsibility is to be assigned by a Research manager from time to time.


Key Performance Indicators:

  • Ensure Data compilation to enable the completion of projects at the stipulated time frame.
  • Timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Feedback from Faculty/Line Manager.


Requirements:

  • Good first degree in a social science discipline (First class/2.1)
  • A first degree in Sociology, A master’s or Research degree is an added advantage.
  • Experience in data collation/analysis
  • Should have at 2 years experience which should be from working in a similar role
  • Good quantitative skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Planning and Organizational skills
  • Oral and Written Communication Skills
  • Flexibility and working under pressure.


Technical Skill Requirements:

  • Proficiency in the use of Excel, SPSS, etc.
  • Transcribing Skills
  • Online research skills
  • Knowledge of proofreading & referencing
  • Knowledge of fieldwork implementation
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodology.
