We are seeking to hire a Loan Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in loan origination, credit analysis, and client relationship management. The candidate must demonstrate financial knowledge, and customer service expertise.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Recommend approval of loan applications based on creditworthiness.
  • ⁠⁠Conduct in-depth interviews with applicants to gather financial information and understand their loan needs.
  • ⁠Analyze applicants’ financial status, credit, and property evaluations to determine feasibility of granting loans.
  • ⁠Maintain and build relationships with new and existing clients to ensure long-term partnerships.
  • ⁠Explain loan options and terms to applicants clearly and effectively.
  • ⁠Ensure all lending procedures comply with current regulations and company policy.
  • ⁠Follow up with clients regarding loan documentation and repayments.
  • ⁠Maintain detailed records of loan applications, approvals, and rejections for audit and compliance purposes.
  • ⁠Monitor loan accounts and manage overdue payments.
  • ⁠Collaborate with internal teams such as credit risk and legal to ensure seamless loan processing.
  • ⁠Propose new credit services or product improvements based on client feedback and market research.
  • ⁠Stay informed on financial regulations, market trends, and new loan products.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years working experience in a loan officer or credit-related role.
  • Understanding of financial statements, credit scoring, lending procedures, and Nigerian financial laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and loan management software (e.g., Core Banking Systems CRM tools).
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of data with accuracy.
  • High ethical standards and professional conduct.
  • Adapt to changing client needs or market conditions.
