Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Conduct risk-based internal audits across various departments and business units and providing recommendations to mitigate risks.
- Developing and implementing audit plans, conducting audits, and analyzing financial operations, systems, and internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. (e.g., CBN, BOFIA, NDIC)
- Prepare clear and concise audit reports with findings and actionable recommendations.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of credit risk assessment procedures, including borrower appraisals and adherence to lending policies, to ensure sound decision-making and minimize default risk.
- Knowledge of microfinance operations, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Reviewing financial reports, loan portfolios, and other financial data.
- Evaluating internal controls specific to company operations, including credit disbursement, loan recovery, and cash flow management.
- Reporting audit findings, recommendations, and progress to management and the board of directors.
- Support external audits and regulatory examinations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in any Discipline (2:2, 2:1 or First Class)
- Professional certification, such as ACA, ACCA, or CPA certification, is an advantage.
- Must have worked as an internal auditor for a minimum of 5 years in a bank or Microfinance bank or an Audit firm, or a CBN-regulated institution.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the banking and microfinance sectors.
- Experience with audit software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of microfinance operations, lending practices, and regulatory frameworks.
- Solid understanding of financial reporting principles and frameworks
- Proficient knowledge of applicable accounting standards, including local GAAP
- Familiarity with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and present accurate financial statements in compliance with regulatory requirements
