ENGIE Global Energy Management and Sales (GEMS) is responsible for managing the portfolio of gas, electricity, congestion revenues rights and environmental products for ENGIE, across geographies. More recently, GEMS has extended his scope to also manage all the market risks (energy, congestion, RECs, ancillaries) generated by the Renewable and Battery Storage Assets owned by ENGIE North America, which includes wind farms and solar farms â the Renewable Portfolio Management team is precisely the group in charge of these activities.Â
As an senior member of this team, the Head of Renewable Portfolio Management will lead a group of individuals in charge of maximizing the profitability of wind and solar assets while managing market risks within acceptable risk limits.
This position sits in Houston, TX and will report to the Head of Power Portfolio Management for North America.
What youâll do:
Lead a team of renewable portfolio managers to manage a growing portfolio of wind and solar assets expected to reach 8GW+ of installed capacity in the coming years Act as a senior representative of the GEMS organization towards the Engie Global Business Unit developing wind and solar assets, as well as its external equity partners Articulate then drive the team execution of a strategy towards short-term optimization of wind and solar assets, involving automatic forecasting, optimization, and execution of Day Ahead orders in the market. This strategy might involve internal resources and third-party providers Develop then execute a strategy for forward hedging of wind and solar assets in conjunction with the other parts of Engie North America which warehouse or originate electricity market risks (Battery Storage, Retail, Trading) Support Business Development teams on new wind and solar assets, offering views on particular ISO protocols, regional congestion landscape, price of the products commercialized, available incentives, etc. in order to contribute to the profitable buildout of the wind and solar capacity in the US Participate in the day-to-day risk management and optimization of operating wind and solar assets, as a contributing member of the team Articulate with the Risk Group the development and improvement of the risk metrics, and the proper representation of assets and existing hedges in the risk management systemsWhat you bring:
Bachelorâs degree in a quantitative discipline (E.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Math â¦) Minimum 6 years of experience in Competitive Energy Markets, with some of it in a Portfolio Management, Risk Management or Trading position Minimum 10 years in general business experience Ability to manage a small team of highly motivated and talented individuals, with an empowering and result-oriented mindset Ability to manage multiple competing priorities on a timely basis Ability to communicate effectively across the organization: from top management to other functional groups (origination, operations, ITâ¦) Resourceful, ability to use a variety of tools, data sources, and systems; and inherent curiosity to procure and test new resources Experience in the market structure and protocols of one or more of the following ISOs would be a plus: ERCOT, SPP, PJM, MISO Intermediate or Advanced level in Excel and an object-oriented programming language (Python or other) is a plus Knowledge of wind and solar economics, competitive landscape and technologies is a plus Some knowledge of data science / statistical techniques is a plusAdditional Information/Conditions:
