Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee financial operations across all business units, including retail, pharmacy, bakery, restaurant, and supermarket arms.
- Develop and manage annual budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, and track budget performance with variance analysis.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports to guide executive decision-making.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and long-term financial health.
- Establish and enforce strong internal control systems to prevent fraud, ensure compliance, and improve financial accuracy across all departments.
- Ensure timely and accurate tax planning, computation, and filing in accordance with Nigerian tax regulations, including PAYE, VAT, and corporate tax.
- Coordinate and lead internal and external audits, ensuring all documentation and processes meet audit standards.
- Design and implement cost-saving strategies, analyzing departmental spending to optimize profitability without compromising quality.
- Supervise payroll processes, vendor payments, bank reconciliations, and inventory-related accounting.
- Collaborate with operational heads (e.g. store managers, inventory officers, procurement, HR) to align financial goals with business activities.
- Provide strategic insights to the executive team on financial performance, business risks, expansion plans, and investment opportunities.
- Mentor and manage the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (MBA or professional certification such as ICAN or ACCA is an added advantage).
- Minimum of 7 years progressive experience in finance, with at least 3 years in a senior finance leadership role.
- Must be 40 years of age or older.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations, Nigerian tax laws, and reporting standards.
- Demonstrated experience in managing finance across multi-unit operations (retail, FMCG, hospitality, etc.).
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel (advanced level preferred).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- High attention to detail and strong analytical mindset.
