Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation and timely submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), local regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
- Lead the consolidation of financial results across multiple business units, subsidiaries, or product lines, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance with reporting requirements.
- Coordinate and manage the end-to-end financial close process, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis, to support decision-making and statutory reporting.
- Collaborate with auditors (external and internal) during statutory audits, ensuring all schedules, documentation, and audit evidence are prepared and reviewed to meet audit deadlines and reduce findings.
- Review and enhance financial reporting processes, identifying opportunities for automation, improved controls, and efficiency through technology and best practice frameworks.
- Monitor changes in accounting standards, tax regulations, and reporting requirements, and assess their impact on the company’s financial statements and disclosures.
- Partner with the finance, treasury, compliance, and risk teams to ensure the integrity and transparency of financial data, forecasts, and disclosures.
- Provide strategic input and financial insights to senior leadership on profitability, performance trends, regulatory exposure, and financial health.
- Design and maintain a robust internal control environment around financial reporting processes and systems to mitigate risks and ensure data accuracy.
- Support budget and forecasting cycles by providing historical data, comparative financials, and aligning actuals with budget expectations for variance analysis.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies (e.g., CBN, SEC, FRCN) and industry stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate regulatory filings and compliance reporting.
- Mentor and supervise junior finance staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to build reporting capabilities and functional excellence within the team.
Requirements:
- CFA Level 1 required MBA or MSc in Finance/Business (preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years experience
- BSc. Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a similar course of study
