A furniture and Interior Design Company located in Lagos seeks to employ the service of a Production Manager.

Job Description/Requirements


1. Staff Management & Operational Duties

  • Oversee factory workers, production and efficiency of the machines to make sure the factory is running smoothly, quickly, efficiently, effectively and safely
  • Work with the HR department to minimize production staff absenteeism and lateness.
  • Liaise with the Human Resources Manager on company’s policies and procedures and communicate same to the factory workers.
  • Keep up with the effective running of the factory by ensuring there is no downtime and maximize the human capacity
  • Align production processes with Company’s objectives and best practices.
  • Schedule periodic maintenance of equipment within the factory
  • Maintain optimum operation by creating a detailed production plan schedule.
  • Coordinate the sharing of work schedules for production staff while maximizing productivity.
  • Send weekly and monthly reports to the Chief Executive through Assistant General Manager, Operations on operational activities.
  • Recommend efficient methods and machines for production to Management
  • Recommend ways of motivating and rewarding the production staff


2. Strategic Production Planning Duties

  • Create a system and plan a strategy for the work process and flow to be more systematic and organized
  • Oversee factory workers, production and efficiency of the machines to make sure the factory is running smoothly, quickly, efficiently, effectively and safely
  • Effective maximization of materials and reduction of raw material wastage
  • Reduce production costs in the first 3 months and going forward without compromising standards
  • Assist in costing of finished products and determining labour rate on item produce
  • Responsible for contributing to and carrying out production strategy decisions.
  • Ensure production delivers on the timeline for all clients
  • Recommend creative ways to reduce production costs
  • Reduce redundancy of production staff by ensuring they are effective work schedule process.
  • Review the existing BOM and revise for efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Recommendation training needed for the staff to enhance productivity.


3. Regulatory and Quality Control duties

  • Ensure safety regulations and policies are implemented among the factory workers
  • Ensure appropriate health and safety procedures are in place and applied rigorously.
  • Collect and look through data to determine areas of waste and for improvement
  • Ensure compliance with workers safety
  • Monitor the production equipment to make sure that they stay in good working order, and repair or replace the equipment when needed.
  • Maintain a close relationship with all departments in the company to make sure everything runs smoothly.
  • Plan production activities, production meetings, machine maintaining schedules, work schedules and budget maintenance schedules and quality of products.
  • Ensure quality checks are done at every stage of production
  • Minimize or eradicate client’s complaints on items produced.




  • HND/Bsc in Wood technology/Engineering.
  • At least 5years experience in the same capacity.
  • A professional certification. (An added advantage)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
