Cost Accountant

Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular cost analysis to identify areas of cost inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
• Prepare detailed reports on product and project costs, variance analysis, and cost of goods sold (COGS).
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and contribute to month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Monitor inventory levels, valuation, and movement to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Collaborate with operations and procurement teams to maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory tracking system.
• Assist in the development of cost estimates for new products, projects, and manufacturing processes.
• Participate in the budgeting process by providing cost-related insights and forecasts.
• Collaborate with operations teams to analyze production processes and identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising quality.
• Implement and monitor cost control measures to ensure adherence to budget and cost targets.
• Maintain and update standard costs for products, ensuring alignment with production processes, material costs, and overhead expenses.
• Review and adjust standard costs as necessary to reflect changes in market conditions or internal processes.
• Perform regular variance analysis between actual costs and standard costs, investigating and explaining any significant discrepancies.
• Provide insights to management on factors affecting cost variances and recommend corrective actions.

Requirements:

• Mimimum academic qualification of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of proven work experience as an accountant
• ICAN certified
• Solid understanding of cost accounting principles, methods, and practices.
• Proficiency in using accounting software, ERP systems, and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams and present findings to management.
• Familiarity with inventory management processes and concepts.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Experience in manufacturing or production-related industries is advantageous.

Remuneration: NGN 300,000 net monthly.
