Job summary

The Community Pharmacist is responsible for managing the daily clinical and operational activities of the retail pharmacy, ensuring safe dispensing of medications, delivering patient-centered pharmaceutical care, and maintaining full regulatory compliance.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

Clinical & Professional Duties:

  • Accurately review and dispense prescriptions in accordance with legal and professional standards.
  • Conduct thorough prescription screening for drug interactions, contraindications, allergies, and dosing errors.
  • Provide medication counseling and health education to patients.


Regulatory & Compliance Management:

  • Ensure full compliance with all pharmacy laws and professional regulations.
  • Maintain a valid annual practicing license and ensure the premises license is up to date.
  • Prepare and coordinate regulatory inspections.


Inventory & Stock Management:

  • Oversee procurement from approved and licensed suppliers.
  • Monitor stock levels, expiry dates, and batch numbers using FEFO/FIFO principles.
  • Prevent stock-outs of fast-moving and essential medicines.


Sales & Business Development:

  • Drive ethical sales growth while prioritizing patient safety
  • Monitor sales performance and margin control
  • Implement strategies to increase prescription volume and OTC sales.


Team Leadership & Supervision:

  • Supervise pharmacy technicians, assistants, and sales staff
  • Train staff on product knowledge, customer service, and compliance procedures.
  • Schedule shifts and manage performance.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharma.D).
  • Current annual practicing license.
  • 2–5 years of community pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and dispensing accuracy.
  • Experience with pharmacy management software is an advantage.
  • Strong clinical judgment

Remuneration: NGN 250,000 - 300,000
