Cashier
Job summary
The bakery cashier is responsible for providing excellent customer service, accurately processing sales transactions, maintaining proper cash records, and ensuring the sales area remains clean and organised. The cashier is also responsible for safeguarding company funds and supporting daily bakery operations.

- Welcome customers warmly and professionally
- Attend to customer enquiries and recommend bakery products
- Ensure customers receive prompt and courteous service.
- Resolve minor customer complaints and escalate complex issues to the supervisor.
- Process cash, POS, bank transfer, and other approved payment methods accurately.
- Issue receipts for every transaction.
- Count cash before and after each shift.
- Balance cash drawer and prepare end-of-day sales reports.
- Report any cash shortages or overages immediately.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial transactions.
- Ensure products are correctly priced.
- Keep the cashier counter clean at all times.
- Observe food safety and hygiene standards.
- Maintain a neat personal appearance and wear the prescribed uniform.
- Prepare daily sales summaries.
- Reconcile POS, cash, and transfer payments.
- Maintain accurate transaction records.
- Assist in stock-taking when required.
- Safeguard company cash and assets.
- Verify suspicious transactions.
- Ensure only authorized personnel access the cash register.
- Assist with customer order bookings.
- Support delivery dispatch documentation where necessary.
- Perform any other duties assigned by management.
- Minimum of an SSCE
- 1–3 years' experience as a cashier, preferably in a bakery, supermarket, or retail outlet.
- Basic computer literacy
- Experience using POS systems is an advantage.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong numerical ability.
- Honesty and integrity.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Attention to detail.
- Good time management.
- Ability to work weekends, public holidays, and shifts.
- Handle all customer transactions accurately.
- Maintain zero tolerance for fraud or cash mishandling.

- Protect company revenue through accurate record-keeping and strict adherence to cash-handling procedures.
