Billing Officer

Responsibilities:

• Prepare, process, and manage patient bills, ensuring accurate billing for medical services rendered.
• Verify patient information, capturing charges for consultations, procedures, laboratory tests, medications, and other services, and ensuring that bills are correctly documented and issued.
• Liaise with the accounts department, clinical units, and Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) to ensure proper billing, claims processing, and reconciliation.
• Explain billing information to patients, resolving billing discrepancies, maintaining billing records, and ensuring compliance with hospital financial policies and procedures.
• Supports efficient revenue collection by ensuring timely billing, accurate documentation, and proper handling of patient and HMO accounts.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Health Information Management, or a related field.
• Previous experience in hospital billing, medical records, or healthcare finance is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of hospital billing systems, HMO processes, and healthcare service coding.
• Strong numerical and record-keeping skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and hospital billing software.
• Good communication and customer service skills for interacting with patients and healthcare staff.
• High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and financial information.
