Accountant
Position Overview
The Accountant will be responsible for producing and reviewing monthly management accounts for the Speedcast entities based in the African region. This role will report directly to the Finance Director Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA).
Primary Responsibilities:
Completion of monthly management accounts including variance analysis commentary and additional Group Finance requests for the entities in remit in accordance with group reporting timetable
Completion of month end balance sheet reconciliations within prescribed timelines. Highlighting balance sheet risks and opportunities.
Working with external auditors and other stakeholders to ensure assigned Africa statutory filings (e.g., annual accounts, tax returns, VAT returns, etc.) are filed in accordance with local regulatory requirements. This involves providing the auditors with the requested information (transactions listing and samples, including coordinating with other departments to obtain the backup) and answering their queries.
Managing local accounting firms ensuring Speedcast is receiving correct support for in-country requirements.
Preparation of weekly cash flow forecasts for the multiple bank accounts of the assigned entities.
Requirements:
Qualified financial accountant
Excellent prioritization skills and the ability to work through reporting deliverables and deadlines for multiple entities simultaneously.
Effective communication skills with the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at varying levels including country managers, auditors, local tax/accounting advisors.
Ability to adapt and contribute to the transformational changes being implemented in the business, such as IT and process workflows.
Proficiency with MS Excel including data manipulation skills and experience with formulas and features including but not limited to:: lookups, sumifs, and pivot tables.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in accounting for entities from the EMEA region.
Experience working with Navision (NAV17 or later) software.
