The Accountant is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, and supporting effective financial planning and control. The role involves preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, managing budgets, processing payroll and tax filings.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring that appropriate procedures and processes for setting, monitoring and reviewing the financial arrangements are followed
  • Ensures that all bank and cash balances are regularly updated and reconciled
  • Respond to and resolve all payment related queries
  • Maintains general ledger accounts by reconciling accounts receivable detail and control accounts; analyzing and reconciling retainage and accounts payable ledgers; preparing fixed asset depreciation and accruals.
  • Secure financial information by completing database backups; keeping information confidential
  • Supporting the development, maintenance and review of budget monitoring, control, reconciliation and reporting in conjunction with operations and to contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental systems in line with financial best practice.
  • Effective liaison with external and internal audit, including the efficient filing and retention of documentation, maintaining appropriate audit trails for subsequent retrieval as and when required.
  • Effective liaison with other teams and to promote joint working arrangements and the sharing of information.
  • Issuing of Purchase Orders for order confirmation
  • Responsible for the preparation of Quotations and Invoices
  • Handle preparation, liaising and payment of all tax payments (VAT, WHT, PAYE, CIT, etc.)


Requirements:

  • HND/BSc. in Accountancy or any other related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a similar role in a multi-site, structured environment preferably a logistics company.
  • Must be versatile in the use of at least one accounting package / ERP
  • Must be highly organised, detailed and focused.
  • Outstanding coordinating and planning skills
  • Good knowledge of all branches of accounting
  • Excellent grasp of tax accounting.
  • Good knowledge of corporate finance
  • An understanding and experience of a fast-moving workplace environment
