Gelose Marine Services is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Vessel Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing our fleet of vessels, ensuring optimal performance, regulatory compliance, and adherence to the highest standards of safety and maintenance.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

Technical Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day technical condition of assigned vessels
  • Ensure timely maintenance and repair activities, including dry-docking
  • Monitor and manage vessel performance, machinery status, and fuel efficiency
  • Coordinate procurement of spare parts, tools, and technical services


Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with flag state, class, and international maritime regulations (ISM, ISPS, SOLAS, MARPOL, etc.)
  • Maintain up-to-date certification and documentation for each vessel
  • Conduct and follow up on internal audits, inspections, and safety drills


Operational Oversight:

  • Collaborate with operations and crewing departments to support safe vessel operations
  • Provide technical support to onboard crew and respond promptly to emergencies or breakdowns
  • Plan and implement preventive maintenance using the Planned Maintenance System (PMS)


Budget and Cost Control:

  • Prepare and manage annual technical budgets for assigned vessels
  • Track operational expenses, ensuring cost-efficiency without compromising safety or performance
  • Approve invoices and ensure timely reporting of technical expenditures


Stakeholder & Crew Coordination:

  • Liaise with classification societies, regulatory bodies, vendors, and third-party service providers
  • Conduct vessel visits to inspect operations and support the crew
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to onboard engineers and technical teams


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Vessel Manager or in a similar senior technical maritime role.
  • In-depth knowledge of international maritime regulations, including ISM, ISPS, and SOLAS.
  • Valid Chief Engineer (Class 1) Certificate of Competency is an added advantage
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with proven team management ability.
  • Familiarity with Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS) and marine management software
  • Hands-on experience managing vessel budgets, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant technical software tools.

Remuenration: NGN  1 Million
