Job Summary

Pharmacy technicians work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist to dispense prescription and over the counter medication to patients and healthcare professionals

  • Minimum Qualification: Diploma
  • Experience Level: Entry level
  • Experience Length: 2 years

Job Description/Requirements


  • Receiving and verifying patients  prescriptions

  • Delivering quality customer service to patients and other members of the healthcare team, responding to inquiries, questions, or requests, and referring them to the pharmacist for medical information.

  • Performing inventory Audits

  • Sorting, stocking, and monitoring inventory.

  • Counting prescription medications, filling prescriptions’, and attaching medication labels

  • Verifying the accuracy of patient information.

  • Accepting written prescriptions and refill requests from patients and healthcare professionals and evaluating information for completeness and accuracy.

  • Maintaining pharmacy’s(and its employees) safety by adhering to infection-control procedures, policies, and regulations.

  • Ensuring the availability of drugs by delivering them to patients and healthcare professionals.

  • Receiving and storing inbound supplies, verifying the quantities against raised invoice, and informing the supervisors about any inventory shortages and needs.

  • Delivering pharmaceutical supplies and medications to nursing stations, patients.

  • Maintain order and cleanliness of the pharmacy by staying in compliance with the procedures, rules and regulations that has been established by the organization

  • Dispensing and vetting of all prescribed medications on Genesys.

  • Perform any other duties as advised by management.


    • Ability to answer patients’ questions promptly

    • Ability to interpret prescription and dispense medications without error

    • Demonstrable leadership qualities

    • Ability  to counsel patients on the rational use of medication

    • Understanding of the various challenges of specific disease conditions

        • Minimum of National Diploma from an accredited institution

        • Minimum of 1–2-year work experience as a Pharmacy Technician

        • Must be registered with the Pharmacist Council of Nigeria(PCN).

          Reports to: Senior Pharmacy Technician
