Role Summary
The Audit Manager plays a pivotal role in leading and managing assurance engagements across diverse industries. The role involves ensuring the quality and timeliness of audit deliverables, maintaining strong client relationships, and contributing to the growth and technical development of the audit team. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with sound judgment, leadership, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Engagement Management
- Plan, execute, and finalize audit engagements in accordance with International Standards on Auditing (ISA) and Stransact’s methodologies.
- Develop detailed audit strategies, budgets, and work programs aligned with client objectives.
- Review audit work papers and deliverables for quality and compliance before Partner review.
- Monitor engagement progress against deadlines and budgets, proactively managing risks and issues.
- Ensure the use of technology and audit tools to improve efficiency and quality of engagements.
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary contact for clients during audit engagements, providing technical insights and business advisory perspectives.
- Identify client needs and opportunities for cross-functional collaboration (Tax, Advisory, or Technology services).
- Present audit findings and recommendations to client management and boards in a clear and actionable manner.
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise, coach, and mentor senior associates and associates throughout the engagement cycle.
- Conduct performance reviews and contribute to the professional development of audit team members.
- Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning within the team.
Quality & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to Stransact’s quality control procedures and Nexia International’s global audit standards.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements (FRCN, ICAN, IFRS).
- Support internal reviews, inspections, and process improvement initiatives to enhance audit quality.
Firm & Practice Development
- Contribute to developing the firm’s audit methodology, templates, and automation processes.
- Participate in proposal writing, business development pitches, and client onboarding.
- Support the Partner in strategic initiatives and firm-wide projects related to digital transformation in audit.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline.
- ACA/ACCA qualified (mandatory).
- Additional certifications (CISA, CFA, CIA, or Data Analytics) are an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 6–8 years of progressive experience in external audit, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Proven experience auditing organizations across multiple industries.
- Prior experience in a top or mid-tier accounting firm preferred.
Technical & Professional Skills
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, ISA, and Nigerian regulatory frameworks.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and audit software (e.g., CaseWare, IDEA, or similar).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Sound judgment, integrity, and attention to detail.
