Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Installation & Setup: Install and set up electrical systems, equipment, and wiring according to technical specifications and blueprints. Assist in the setup of electrical components for machinery, systems, and infrastructure in buildings, factories, or other facilities. Test electrical systems for proper functionality following installation.
- Maintenance & Repairs: Perform regular maintenance on electrical systems, including power distribution boards, lighting, and electrical panels. Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues such as wiring faults, short circuits, and equipment failures. Repair or replace malfunctioning electrical components to ensure the system operates safely and efficiently.
- Testing & Inspection: Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems, components, and wiring to ensure they are functioning properly and in compliance with safety regulations. Use diagnostic tools and instruments to test electrical systems, identify problems, and assess the condition of components. Ensure all work meets relevant standards, codes, and regulations.
- Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Identify and diagnose electrical faults in systems and equipment. Develop and implement solutions to correct electrical issues promptly and safely. Provide on-site troubleshooting and support to resolve electrical problems in a timely manner.
- Compliance & Safety: Follow electrical codes, safety standards, and procedures to ensure work is completed in compliance with regulations. Ensure that all electrical work is completed without compromising the safety of workers or the general public. Maintain a clean and organized work environment to prevent accidents and safety hazards.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance, repairs, and inspections. Report any recurring issues or safety concerns to management for further action. Prepare documentation and reports regarding electrical work, including the parts used and the status of equipment.
- Upgrades & System Improvements: Suggest improvements or upgrades to existing electrical systems to enhance efficiency and performance. Assist in the installation and integration of new electrical systems or machinery. Participate in the testing and commissioning of new electrical systems and equipment.
- Collaboration & Team Support: Work closely with other technical staff, including engineers and technicians, to resolve complex electrical problems. Provide technical guidance and support to other team members as needed. Assist in training apprentices or junior technicians to enhance their skills.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Diploma or certification in electrical engineering or a related field preferred).
- 2-5 years of proven experience as an Electrical Technician or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, wiring, and components.
- Familiarity with electrical testing and diagnostic tools.
- Understanding of electrical safety standards and codes.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and manuals.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in electrical work.
- Good communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and management.
- Ability to use electrical testing and diagnostic tools.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily works in industrial, commercial, or residential settings, depending on the employer.
- May involve working in confined spaces or elevated areas.
- Work may be required outside of standard working hours (e.g., evenings or weekends) for emergency repairs or scheduled maintenance.
- Physical work, including lifting, climbing ladders, and handling electrical equipment, may be required.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required to ensure safety during electrical work.
