Civil Engineer

Responsibilities:

Engineer, Plot and Utilities Design:

• Training of Junior and Assistant Engineers
• Develops conceptual designs and generates detailed layouts
• Works with other engineers in other units, as well as in a supporting role within the unit
• Must be able to coordinate with other engineers and also work with them in a supporting role
• Prepares and supervises the Bill of Quantities taken by Assistant Engineers
• Participates in the development of technical proposals
• Contributes to the preparation of specifications, schedules, drawings, calculations, and any other contract deliverables when needed.
• Takes up the position of the Senior Engineer in their absence
• Assists in design responsibilities and supervision
• Prepares hydraulic calculations for utility connections in plots
• Prepares the determination of design criteria for WTPs and STPs
• Preparation of the parameters for the design of sewage and water supply networks
• Determination of best routes for different gravity and pressure piping systems
• Strict adherence to QM/QC policy
• All other duties assigned by the Line Manager.

Engineer, Road and Highway Design

• Training of Junior and Assistant Engineers
• Develops conceptual designs and generates detailed layouts
• Works with other engineers in other units, as well as in a supporting role within the unit
• Must be able to coordinate with other engineers and also work with them in a supporting role
• Prepares and supervises the Bill of Quantities taken by Assistant Engineers
• Participates in the development of technical proposals
• Contributes to the preparation of specifications, schedules, drawings, calculations, and any other contract deliverables when needed

 Takes up the position of the Senior Engineer in their absence

• Assists in design responsibilities and supervision
• Responsible for  the geometric design of highways for different categories of road
• Does analysis of hydraulic structures and hydraulic studies for stormwater drainage systems
• Does the design of access roads and interchanges
• Responsible for determining of best route selection for roads
• Responsible for earthwork quantity calculations.
• Responsible for adherence to QMS policy
• All other duties assigned by the Line Manager

In addition to the functions above, the nominated Engineer will support Quality Management System as itemized below:

• Perform support roles for Internal and external audits
• Understanding compliance requirements and how to work and manage within a regulatory environment
• Assist with training of quality awareness
• Conduct Quality Systems audits and assist in training/guidance to other auditors
• Collate quality data for monitoring targets
• Support process improvement activities
• All other duties assigned by the Line Manger.

Requirements:

• Minimum academic qualification of an Engineering Degree
• Minimum of above 4 - 8 years of hands-on experience in Infrastructure Services Engineering
• Must be COREN registered
• Being able to use AutoCAD, Civil 3D and HY8 proficiently, and good knowledge in the use of EPANET, HY8 and SSA 
• Must have basic hands-on knowledge in the use of GIS applications
• Being experienced in reviewing designs and shop drawings
• Being able to receive, file, distribute, issue and track design documentation in accordance with PTN policy
