We are seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Medical Director (CMD) to lead our hospital's clinical and operational functions. The ideal candidate will drive quality healthcare delivery, clinical governance, strategic growth, regulatory compliance, and high-performing medical teams.

Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Provide overall strategic leadership for the hospital's clinical services and contribute to corporate decision-making as a member of the Executive Management Team.
- Develop and implement clinical and operational strategies aligned with the hospital's vision, mission, and strategic goals.
- Drive innovation, service expansion, and continuous improvement across all clinical departments.
- Represent the hospital in engagements with government agencies, regulators, HMOs, corporate organisations, professional bodies, and other stakeholders.
Clinical Leadership:
- Provide leadership and oversight for all medical and clinical services.
- Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based, and patient-centred healthcare.
- Lead clinical governance, quality assurance, patient safety, infection prevention and control, and risk management programmes.
- Oversee the credentialing, privileging, appraisal, and continuous professional development of medical practitioners.
- Develop, review, and implement clinical policies, treatment protocols, and standard operating procedures.
- Lead mortality and morbidity reviews, clinical audits, incident investigations, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Supervise, mentor, evaluate, and develop consultants, specialists, medical officers, and other clinical personnel.
Administrative and Operational Leadership:
- Provide executive oversight of the hospital's daily clinical and operational activities.
- Work collaboratively with the Managing Director, Head of HR & Administration, Head of Finance, Nursing Services, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Radiology, and other departmental leaders to achieve organisational goals.
- Participate in workforce planning and approve clinical staffing requirements in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Oversee the efficient allocation and utilisation of clinical resources, medical equipment, and facilities.
- Monitor operational performance using key performance indicators and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable healthcare laws, licensing requirements, ethical standards, and accreditation requirements.
- Lead emergency preparedness, disaster response, and business continuity planning for clinical operations.
Financial and Business Leadership:
- Contribute to annual budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation for clinical services.
- Promote cost-effective healthcare delivery while maintaining high standards of quality and patient safety.
- Identify opportunities for service expansion, new specialty programmes, and strategic partnerships.
- Support business development initiatives that strengthen the hospital's market position and improve revenue generation.
People Leadership:
- Build, lead, and inspire high-performing multidisciplinary clinical teams.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Mentor future clinical leaders and promote succession planning.
- Support performance management, employee engagement, and organisational development initiatives.
Requirements:
- Degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS or equivalent).
- Full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
- Valid Annual Practising Licence.
- Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN), the West African College of Physicians (WACP), or the West African College of Surgeons (WACS).
- A postgraduate qualification in Healthcare Management, Hospital Administration, Public Health, Business Administration (MBA), or a related discipline will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 15 years post-qualification clinical experience, with at least 5 years in a senior hospital leadership or executive management role.
- Demonstrated success in leading multidisciplinary clinical teams within a reputable secondary or tertiary healthcare institution. Experience in a private specialist hospital will be an added advantage.
- Proven track record in clinical governance, quality improvement, patient safety, hospital administration, and organisational growth.
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, NHIA operations, HMOs, and private healthcare management.
- Sound financial, operational, and strategic management skills.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and decision-making abilities.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, emotional intelligence, and strategic thinking.
- Proficiency in healthcare information systems and Microsoft Office applications.
