Job summary
The Director of Nursing Services will provide professional and operational leadership for all nursing services in the hospital. The successful candidate will establish nursing systems, coordinate patient-care delivery, supervise the nursing workforce and promote safe, compassionate and evidence-based practice from the hospital's commencement of operations.

Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic, professional and operational leadership for nursing services across the hospital.
- Develop and implement nursing policies, standard operating procedures, care protocols and documentation standards.
- Plan nursing manpower requirements and coordinate recruitment, orientation, deployment, duty rosters and performance management.
- Maintain appropriate nurse-to-patient coverage and effective shift handover arrangements.
- Promote patient safety, infection prevention and control, medication safety and high-quality bedside care.
- Coordinate nursing support for outpatient, inpatient, emergency, theatre, maternity and other clinical services as they become operational.
- Monitor nursing practice through ward rounds, audits, incident reviews, patient feedback and quality- improvement initiatives.
- Ensure accurate, complete and confidential nursing records, including effective use of the hospital information system.
- Identify nursing equipment, medicines and consumable requirements and ensure their safe and efficient use.
- Develop induction, competency assessment, continuing education and mentorship programmes for nursing personnel.
- Ensure compliance with Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria requirements, professional ethics and hospital policies.
- Collaborate with the Chief Medical Director, Chief Operating Officer and other departmental heads to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Prepare nursing performance reports and perform other responsibilities assigned by hospital management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Nursing Science or another recognised nursing qualification from an accredited institution.
- Registration as a registered nurse with a current practising licence issued by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
- Additional registration or certification in midwifery, nursing administration, critical care, theatre nursing, public health or a related specialty is an advantage.
- Minimum of five years' post-qualification nursing experience, including at least two years in a supervisory or leadership position.
- Sound knowledge of clinical governance, patient safety, infection prevention and nursing quality assurance.
- Strong leadership, workforce planning, communication, coaching and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to establish nursing systems and lead teams in a newly commissioned hospital.
- Good computer skills and ability to use electronic medical records and digital administrative systems.
- Integrity, empathy, professionalism and commitment to patient-centred care.
- Willingness to reside in or relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of Isuofia.
Remuneration: NGN 300,000 Monthly
