Role Description The Assistant Accountant is a full-time, on-site position based in Lagos, supporting the finance team in day-to-day accounting and administrative tasks. Responsibilities include recording financial transactions, preparing vouchers, assisting with bank reconciliations, and maintaining accurate ledgers and documentation. The role will help with accounts payable and receivable processing, expense tracking, and the preparation of basic financial reports for management. The Assistant Accountant will collaborate with internal departments to collect financial data, support audits, and ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations. This position requires attention to detail, integrity in handling financial information, and the ability to meet deadlines in a busy media environment.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess fundamental accounting skills, including bookkeeping, ledger maintenance, and an understanding of accounts payable and receivable.
• Candidates should possess proficiency in accounting software and productivity tools, such as Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet or ERP applications.
• Candidates should possess strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to reconcile accounts and interpret basic financial data.
• Candidates should possess solid organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet reporting deadlines.
• Candidates should possess strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, vendors, and auditors.
• Candidates should possess high ethical standards, reliability, and attention to detail in managing sensitive financial information.
• Relevant academic qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (e.g., OND, HND, or Bachelor’s degree); professional certification in progress (e.g., ICAN, ACCA) is an advantage.
• Prior experience in an accounting or finance support role, preferably in media, broadcasting, or a related industry, is beneficial.

Criteria

8-10 years of work experience.

1st Degree.

Must have completed NYSC

Professional certification is an added advantage.
