Responsibilities:
- Provides medical care to livestock, including cattle, swine, sheep, and poultry.
- Diagnosing and treating illnesses, performing surgeries, administering vaccinations, and developing herd health and biosecurity programs.
- Advise farmers on nutrition, breeding, and disease prevention to ensure animal welfare.
Requirements:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited institution
- Valid state veterinary license in good standing
- Experience in large animal or livestock practice preferred
- Strong knowledge of herd health management, disease prevention, and biosecurity protocols
- Ability to diagnose, treat, and perform surgical procedures on livestock
- Understanding of animal welfare regulations and food safety standards
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate medical and treatment records
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with farmers and farm staff
- Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Willingness to travel between farm locations and respond to emergency calls
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound clinical judgment
